The essence of this text
The continuation of good work should not depend on the same few people continually giving themselves up.
This is an authored English guide based on the source document and reconciled with BenBiz’s current public account. It preserves the source’s meaning without presenting older examples, terms or technical assumptions as current policy. The unchanged original remains available as a Turkish PDF.
The foundation we do not see
A project’s visible face is what it produces. Beneath it lies the relationship between resources, work, ownership, risk and decision-making. If we do not clarify who provides resources, who decides and who owns the value created, even a well-intentioned structure can reproduce familiar power relations.
The problem is not always bad intent. Without experience of another way of working, people may treat it as natural that whoever provides money or a place should have the final word. Coordination, care and long-term responsibility can then disappear from view.
The limit of sacrifice
Sacrifice is meaningful when it is freely chosen. If the same people must continually surrender pay, time or rest to keep a system running, a choice quietly becomes an obligation.
The Solidarity Circle does not seek to reduce generosity; it seeks to protect the people who carry it. A structure that can protect rights when circumstances change or founders leave is more resilient than one resting only on personal goodwill.
Fairness begins at formation
Justice is not a distribution exercise postponed until after success. Tasks, boundaries, compensation, authority and the way to object should be discussed in the first agreement. A good outcome does not automatically repair rights overlooked on the way.
- Make the relationship between resources and decisions explicit.
- Recognise invisible work and continuity.
- Do not turn ownership into unlimited authority over people.
- Let rules live beyond personal favour and memory.
Reflect together
Whose work or continuing responsibility is least visible in the work you want to build together?
Form your own answer first. Then identify where explanation, objection or a new practical test is needed.
