A settlement idea for growing food, sharing care and learning together.
Meeting the needs of food, water, energy, care and a livelihood alone can be difficult, while practical skills may remain disconnected. ObaNova is an idea for a network of living, learning and R&D places exploring greater resilience through local knowledge and shared production. Each oba takes shape through the knowledge and shared needs of the people building it, within the possibilities and ecological limits of its location.
Long-term vision · Place, core team and first small trial are still to be defined
ObaNova is not currently an operating campus or an open call for accommodation, investment, membership, work or income. No site, permits, resources, partners or starting date have been confirmed.
At ObaNova, R&D is not a laboratory detached from life, but a shared way of researching, testing and learning around each oba’s field of expertise.

Selecting a place, permissions and a first small trial.
Read the explanation
ObaNova has a clear direction, but its practical ground is still being prepared. We neither speak as if a campus already exists nor present long-term possibilities as present facts.
Today
Possible places and ways to begin are being considered in different regions. The 14-decare site in Kumluca–Yazır is one of the candidate sites under evaluation; it has not been purchased or selected. Today there is no selected site, completed permit, confirmed funding, partner or starting date.
A first small trial
If a suitable place and group of people meet, a garden, a few hives, a small bakery, a workshop or a learning gathering could become a manageable trial. Real needs and available capacity—not a long wish list—would decide what begins.
Research and verification
Soil, water, access, fire safety, permissions, local relationships and real costs must be examined for each place. Farming, soilless cultivation, energy, natural building materials and hemp each require further expertise and regulatory verification.
Long-term horizon
We imagine a network of small obas with distinct fields of expertise, complementing one another through shared knowledge, products and mutual support. This horizon is not a present promise of residency, membership, earnings or services.
Before long-term structures are promised, a small trial makes water, soil, care capacity and outcomes visible; both success and failure become part of the record. This conceptual scene is not a selected pilot site.02

BenBiz values a shared life in which no one has to lose their own voice. ObaNova is a physical expression of that idea, touching land, place, work, production, learning and the decisions of everyday life.
No central blueprint dictates what people must produce or how their days must unfold. What remains steady is not one fixed form, but shared principles: human dignity, voluntary participation, personal space, care for nature, open terms and fair recognition of work.
The people building an oba bring their abilities, interests and needs into the same conversation. The place also speaks through its water, climate, soil, access and limits. Each oba takes shape where people and place can listen to one another.
At ObaNova, shared memory is not a past narrated by one centre, but knowledge, objections and experience passing between generations within the same life. This conceptual image does not depict an operating settlement.03
Your own living space and the places we share.
Read the explanation
ObaNova seeks a humane balance between closeness and personal freedom. Shared life should become stronger without erasing the space that belongs to each person.
Your own space, our shared spaces
A common table, garden, workshop and meeting place can bring people closer. Everyone should also have room to rest, be quiet and close their own door; no one is pressed into a single rhythm of life.
Standing more steadily around basic needs
The aim is to build local skill and dependable approaches around food, water, shelter, energy, care and livelihood. Greater self-reliance is not a promise of isolation; it is an effort to become more resilient while remaining honest about what is still needed from outside.
Life is more than production
Learning, care, wellbeing, art, play, sport, conversation and rest all belong here. Ways for children, young people, adults and elders to learn from one another would take shape with those who live there.
The bond between craftsperson and apprentice may belong within everyday life and real production, rather than a separate classroom.
The life behind a shared table
The skill that keeps water flowing, the work in the garden and the preparation in the kitchen meet at one table.

Behind a shared table are efforts that complete one another.
The skill that keeps water flowing…
The hands that grow and harvest food in the garden…
The preparation shared in the kitchen…
At ObaNova, we imagine places that bring making, learning and everyday life closer together.
Keeping space for ourselves, while carrying life forward together.
Together, we complete, and together, we become complete.

Each oba finds its own field of expertise—and opens a new space for learning.
Read the explanation
ObaNova is not intended to reproduce the same settlement again and again. Each oba may deepen around the curiosity and knowledge of the people who build it, while also serving as a living environment for research and development.
Interests and knowledge shape the direction
One oba may grow around soil and food; another around natural materials, water and energy, craft and learning, software and technology, art or wellbeing. These are not assigned tasks, but examples of fields people may develop together.
R&D belongs inside everyday life
Research is not confined to a separate building. A question arising from daily life may bring local knowledge together with scientific and technical insight, be tested at an appropriate scale, documented and carried into the next trial.
Knowledge travels between obas
An oba can share its methods, difficulties and findings with the others. Yet no settlement is required to copy the same answer; each one considers the learning again through its own land, people and needs.
Freedom carries shared responsibility
No single way of living or producing is imposed. Ecological limits, law, safety, measurable knowledge and the rights of others must still remain part of every shared decision.
Specialisms · shared fabricEach field of expertise keeps its own character.
Shared work and methods form a common fabric between obas rather than one fixed mould. Weaving represents both one possible specialism and that relationship; it does not document an operating ObaNova workshop.

Hemp: an important direction for R&D and production, not the whole of ObaNova.
Read the explanation
We care about lawful ways in which industrial hemp may become useful products for people and nature. Each possibility is treated as a separate question to research and verify—not as a result already achieved.
Questions from seed to product
Fibre, yarn, textiles, paper, packaging, oil, insulation and hemp-lime materials may each be explored on their own terms. Ideas involving thermal behaviour with natural stone, biodiesel or hemp honey are not presented as promises without technical, scientific and legal verification.
Each link may require its own expertise
Cultivation, first processing, textiles, material development, product design and use trials do not have to happen in the same place. Different specialist obas and Solidarity Circles may complement one another through clear roles and terms.
A permitted and measurable trial first
Variety, traceable seed, suitable land, permissions, safe processing, real costs and genuine use need to be understood at a small scale. Sound results may support further work; unsuccessful trials should also become part of the shared record.
These are not operating facilities, but research and production possibilities that require permission, expertise and measurement.06
An idea becomes shared work through those who complement it.
Read the explanation
A Solidarity Circle does not place one person’s dream on everyone else. It brings complementary contributions together around a real need, with open terms.
01
Make the need and available resources visible
Place, knowledge, work, time, tools, materials, relationships and financial means are described alongside what is still missing.
02
Who could work on this need together?
People close to the same intention get to know one another. No one enters a project automatically; the bond begins through mutual trust and consent.
03
Agree the terms before work begins
Purpose, tasks, timing, safety, decision rights, costs, pay or another return are written down. Help, investment and paid work are not confused with one another.
04
Test at a small scale and share the learning
People decide together whether to continue, change or stop in light of the result. A sound method may grow; a trial that fails can still become shared knowledge.
07
A real step today: make your knowledge and resources visible.

There is no open residency or job application today. You can still contribute a concrete piece of knowledge, a resource or a question to ObaNova’s research and preparation.
I know of a place or physical resource
If you know of land, a building, workshop, equipment or a local relationship, describe its location, present condition, limits of use and any information that still needs verification.
I bring a field of expertise or research question
Share a concrete question and what you already know around farming, water, energy, natural materials, learning, technology, health or communal life.
I bring knowledge, work or a correction
If you have a profession, craft, experience, time to offer or have noticed something missing from this account, describe it as it is. A first message creates no task, membership or acceptance.
What contributions does this project need?
Perhaps you have a skill, an experience to share or a small thing you noticed. Let’s see what we could do together and find a place that feels right for you.
Two open paths for going deeper and leaving a contribution.
The living project guide in the Reading Area explores ObaNova’s principles, its specialisation and R&D direction, the production circles under research and the Solidarity Circle path in greater depth. The app contribution space is being prepared to connect your knowledge, objection, research question or available resource with the relevant record.
The guide is open to everyone. Leaving a note in the app requires an Explorer Member account and this route remains in pilot use; you do not need to belong to a circle. For a first contact without membership, use the email route below.
First step: a conversation
Do you bring a place, a field of expertise, a research question or a contribution?
Briefly describe what you know, the resource you have found, what you hope to explore and its limits. A first message is only for getting to know one another and seeing what may be verified together; it creates no promise of residency, membership, investment, work or income.
Your email app opens; you choose whether to send the message. Sending it does not mean publication or acceptance. Do not send passwords, payment details or confidential documents.
