The essence of this text

A ready building and a strong network of people do not automatically create a fair system.

This English guide is based on the source document and also states how BenBiz works today. It does not present older examples, terms or technical assumptions as current rules. The unchanged original remains available as a Turkish PDF.

01

A resource larger than the building

The source considers a building together with a women’s solidarity network, specialist knowledge and social trust developed over years. The starting resource is not the physical asset alone, but the possibility of these different forms of value complementing one another.

The proposed approach goes beyond placing independent services in one building. Welcome, programming, referral, records and shared responsibility are organised around one purpose.

02

The invisible work of operation

Appointments, cleaning, maintenance, communication, financial follow-through and coordination are the often invisible burdens of an activity. When they are not defined in advance, they can become permanent unpaid work carried by a few people.

A history of social solidarity is not a ready and unlimited labour force. Each person freely defines the duration, character and compensation of their contribution. Professional boundaries and privacy remain protected when fields of expertise collaborate.

03

A pilot is a place to learn, not a showcase

The proposal is to begin with one limited activity cycle rather than opening an entire building and every service at once. The clarity of records, sustainability of the team’s workload and social access matter as much as income.

Read this text as an exploration of how the model might be tested in one example. Follow the current pilot’s preparations, open needs and participation framework separately on the Istanbul Education Project page.

Reflect together

Without opening the entire structure, which small cycle could a first pilot test reliably from beginning to end?

Form your own answer first. Then identify where explanation, objection or a new practical test is needed.
